Day of the Dead Event - Oceanside Museum of Art

My dead date for the night, the spirit of Gail Buteau.

"Follow me, Robert"

A Day of the Dead soul beckons us into the activity room.

Artist at work, blending colors of a face and mask.

This artist is handpainting one of his catrina creations.

Another artist paints.
We decided to join in on a collaborative painting and picked a couple squares to do.

Gail places her square on the wall.

We loved people's creative dress, like this guy's.  I have to admit to my own minimalist costuming - wait til next year!  Apparently, a number of folks thought I was coming as Robert Redford, even though he is still alive.

This artist kept folks cracking up with his banter.  He led us on a cardboard painting project.  We made a demonic bunny!

You could have your picture taken in this coffin.

These three women were stunning catrinas - real crowd pleasers!

There was so much going on in our little Oceanside art museum!  Dancing, band, DJ, crafts, fashion shows, artists at work, art activities, and neat people.  There is nothing stuffy about this art museum!

Me and our demonic rabbit.

Here is a video link that captures the event nicely  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=728948081440&set=vb.26280418195&type=3&theater

Good night, OMA!

Did people really mistake you for Robert Redford again??!

At first, I saw that third picture and feared it was Baba in costume.

Gail, you look STUNNING!!
