Tillamook Again

Last Saturday, I went with Gail up to Tillamook where she has been taking a series of art classes.  While she was in class, I ventured over to Oceanside out by Cape Meares.

At the end of the beach I noticed a small tunnel going into the cliff.

It led about 150 feet to the other side.

 The other side.

This is the entrance going back - pretty wild!

The light at the end of the tunnel.

Driving to the beach along the bay, I spotted these resting female goldeneyes.

Over the parking lot at the beach was a Bald Eagle cruising by.

Gail got out of class at 12:30, and we headed out for a hike at Cape Lookout.  The trail followed a spine of land 400 feet above the sea for two miles out to the tip.

The views were phenomenal.  That is Haystack Rock way down the coast off of Pacific City.

Above us were two Bald Eagles.

It was practically straight down to the water.  That white trace on the water is a raft of Common Murres - the Northern Hemisphere's penguin like pelagic bird.

Zooming in on the murres.

A splendid day!
