Oregon Trip Part Two

We arrived at McMenamins Wednesday afternoon.  It was built as the county poorhouse in 1911 and housed the destitute for 70 years.  It has been basically restored as a hostel/hotel, and the expansive grounds have many features to keep adults entertained. There are other McMenamins in Oregon and Washington, but the one in Troutdale must be the flagship.

McMenamins

The halls were non stop art work.

This was the door to our room, The Billy Jones Room.  The artwork all around the hotel pays tribute to the former residents.

On our wall was this description of Billy.

More of the art in our room.

A more accurate painting of Billy Jones in our room.

This is just a small part of the hot salt water soaking pool, which we took advantage of.

Jerry's Ice House is a small bar devoted to Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead.

Some Jerry memorabilia.

There was a pool hall down in the basement.

Another room door.

 Another door...

 and another.

This was just a part of a large mural.

On Thursday, we drove back down to Napa and stayed with Nick until Sunday morning.
Two of the many cats from the next door neighbors.  Jasper on the left, and Jabba on the right.

On Saturday, I took Gail to Skyline Park to show her the place I have spent so much time in the past.

We saw a few deer..

 and a Mountain Garter Snake.

We did see Nick at his garden center.  He coincidentally was helping a customer, Dan, who was my housemate back in 1974-5!  Well, that wraps it up - that's all I've got!
