The Past Two Weeks

This month continues to be very busy for Gail and me as winding up the sale of her mom's home draws near.  There have not been any trips, lately, but still some precious moments have been had.

I finally finished some landscaping around the hot tub.  I cut some extra flagstones we had to make a path, dug up the old sod, and planted muhli grass.  This has been a fun place to soak and watch the birds during the day, and the sky at night.

We have had Grossbeaks daily.

"Our" Cooper's Hawk comes around, too, usually early and then again late.

We have several Hooded Orioles that are here all the time, and now feed out of our hummingbird feeders.

We did a morning hike a few days ago at the San Elijo Lagoon.  New sightings there for us were this American Avocet above, and Black Necked Stilts below.

Thursday, I dug 2 monster holes, about 4 feet deep, down to the leech lines at the Escondido house to run water tests on the system.  We have learned much about aging septic systems, lately!

Friday, Dave brought the kids up for a BBQ.  Andria was at a conference in Minnesota, and Gail was dealing with her mom's home.  Gail thoughtfully pulled together some dress-up clothing for Susanna and me.

I had a blast with Nora and Soren, too, but the slow motion videos I took of them don't transfer to the computer.  After backyard play, and a  BBQ, we watched Francis Joins the Navy.  Are you old enough to remember Francis the talking mule?  Probably not!  Coincidentally, the movie was filmed in the early 50's at Coronado Island Navy Base - where Dave is stationed.
