Village People

It is probably no longer a secret that this year's Halloween theme is the Village People, you know, that fun loving group that sang hits like YMCA, In the Navy, and Macho Man.  Well, Gail happened to read on Friday that they were performing Saturday in San Diego County.  We couldn't pass up seeing our "characters" live, so we jumped on the tickets.

The venue was Harrah's Resort, a casino on the Rincon Reservation 34 miles east of us.

The resort has many water features including a lazy river, spas, pools, and waterfalls for guests to swim in.

We had some fine bebidas and Mexican food.  This picture was before I mistakenly bit into a whole jalepeno pepper, that in the dim outside light looked to me like a slice of avacado.  Whoa!!!!

Here are the boys!  I know the pictures are lousy, but we enjoyed the Village People so much I just have to include them.  They really seem humble, and know how to connect with the audience.  Three of the membes are from the original group:  Felipe, the Indian, Alex, the sailor, and Ray the cop.

The event was a fundraiser for Code 3, which is a group that raises money to help cover the costs for firefighters who have cancer - a serious occupational hazard.

The group formed in 1977 and performed their disco music as macho stereotypes.

We regretted having to sit through music that made you want to get up and move, but we were happy to be there.  Village People, rock on!!!
