Ireland Part 5

Saturday morning, Brendan arrived from Dublin with Leo and Helena.  Unfortunately, Aga was ill and unable to come (she was better in a few days).

The Legos came out, and the kids and Gail went to work.

Gail proudly displays her creation.

Helena enjoys picking her own outfits, showing awesome flair.

 Leo is quiet but courageous.

 Tarzan!

Not to be outdone, Paul demonstrates local knowledge with a hands only flight.

Helena on Berta's old saddle from Santa Barbara.  Dad brought it over one year.

Then it was off to an open air market in Drumcliff.  There were permanent shops, too.
Woodworker Francis Presley was very enjoyable as he explained his creations.  This is a guitar type instrument.

A drum kit he made from found and recycled wood.

Traditional music for atmosphere.

 Berta, Helena, and Leo.

Gail spotted this wonderful door.

Gail's favorite artisan shop was this metals and jewelry shop.

Berta picks out a cake.

I wish we had this in San Diego County!

We had a hike and picnic in this amazing gorge.  From up in the fields above, you would hardly know it was there.  That's Brendan on the left.

Both sides were vertical limestone cliffs that had a man made look like some lost Amazonian city.

The dripping waters, moss, roots, and ferns made things a bit surreal.

A couple of  Berta and Paul's friends coincidentally showed up on electric assist bikes.

They insisted we give them a try.  Berta looking good!

In the evening we had a birthday party for Brendan at Laura and Karl's home.  Gail and Paul prepping.

 Leo and Helena.

Brendan cooked gourmet pizzas for everyone.

Father and son.  Happy Birthday Brendan!!!

Grandfather and grandson.
