Comicon!

Comicon is San Diego's biggest event of the year, drawing about 130,000 over four days.  On top of that, many more people just go to the Convention Center area of the city just to see or be seen.  Tickets sell out in less than an hour, a year in advance - we didn't have tickets.  It has become much more than comic books, and includes TV series stars and technicians, gaming exhibits, and most forms of entertainment.  Gail and I went to hang out for the day, and go to a concert in the evening.

The view from the steps of the Convention Center.  This was the first full day, Thursday.

All the following pictures were of people outside of the convention.

We took in The Aquabats at the House of Blues in the evening.  Near the end of the concert, the kids in the audience were invited up on the stage - they took their rockin' very seriously!

Comicon had a very fun vibe, with no rowdiness or ugliness that we saw.  Not having a ticket to stand in lines to listen to entertainment nerds and celebrities was no problem for us.  Can't wait until next year!

What fun! I can't wait to show the kids. They've been watching 'Aquabats' clips every day on You Tube & they laugh out loud every time!
