More Lake Berryessa Beauty

I wanted to return to Lake Berryessa and show Nick "Big Island" before it really became an island again. The date was December 17, the weather was calm, but mostly cloudy.

Nick examining the nuances of dried flowers.

Before even reaching the island, I mean peninsula, we spotted two Golden Eagles, although I'm not positive they weren't juvenile Bald Eagles.

One stayed, allowing for a closer view.

Berryessa's version of fall colors were these red plants along the shore.

On the island we watched this Northern Harrier flying around the area.

The view of other islands looking across the lake.

A Say's Phoebe, perched at this moment, was busy catching bugs out of the air.

This Lesser Goldfinch let us get very close. He was eating the seeds out of those dried thistles. We were also excited to spot a burrowing owl, which is somewhat rare for Napa County. Lake Berryessa is a beautiful place after everyone leaves in the fall. We saw only one boat on the water the whole day.
